Thu, 31 Dec 2009 18:10:11 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.2.1 Facebook TOS Fiasco http://www.shotacrossthebow.net/2009/05/31/facebook-tos-fiasco/ http://www.shotacrossthebow.net/2009/05/31/facebook-tos-fiasco/#comments Sun, 31 May 2009 18:37:53 +0000 admin http://www.shotacrossthebow.net/?p=8 facebookOk, so I have a Facebook account like most of the planet does apparently at this point.  I am not sure why everyone is up in arms over the TOS “attempted” change that occurred a few days ago.  Apparently, Facebook had in their new TOS (Terms of Service) that they could do anything with your content from now until eternity.   Guess what guys…they pretty much can right now.  Anything you post online, is their for the taking.  But for arguments sake, lets just say that you have a Facebook account, you post lots of pictures among other content, and then one day you say, “I think I am gonna delete my facebook account”.  You hit delete and your account is gone.  Well guess what, your account may be gone, but that data that you put up in your account has been replicated and embedded, and copied across the net on server after server after server.

There is no way to get rid of all the data that you put online, it is just not possible.  Over time, most of your data will just fall off some proverbial cliff and no one will care about it.  Stop having a Cow over something as trivial as this.  If you want to keep your intellectual property, don’t post it for the world to see!  Now relax and add me as your Friend cause I wanna see what you Got!
